Radu-Daniel Vatavu, University Stefan cel Mare of Suceava, Romania

Home entertainment systems have known incredible technological advances in the last years by incorporating developments from sensing, processing, communications, and visualization technologies. As such systems become more and more complex, presenting more and more options to their viewers, careful design of interacting devices and interaction techniques are needed. The tutorial will explore the use of gestures for interacting within home entertainment scenarios by discussing gesture acquisition and recognition techniques and focusing on designing for the interactive TV. Case studies will be discussed and a practical design session on reusing the Wii Remote for interactive TV scenarios will be included.
